A guy who broke into a liquor store and stole alcoholic beverages was given a four-year term by Kibera law courts’ Principal Magistrate Monica Maroro.
After Jackson Mwanzia entered a plea of guilty to accusations of breaking into a building and committing a felony, pursuant to Section 306 of the Penal Code, chief magistrate Monica Maroro of the Kibera law courts imposed the punishment.
Police apprehended Mwanzia as he was stealing from Rose Boit’s store, but his accomplice got away.
He had also taken an electric kettle at $1,500, a sub-woofer worth Sh2,500, and other alcoholic beverages totalling Sh11,910.
When police officers from Akila police station received a tip about a burglary that was taking place at Westside Wines and Spirits store, they hurried to the location and saw two males loading the alcoholic beverages into a sack.
One of them was successful in escaping, but Mwanzia had bad luck.
He was detained, and the stolen alcoholic beverages—among them, Johnny Walker, Jack Daniels, Richot, and Gilbey’s—were recovered from him.
In an effort to be given a break, Mwanzia asked for leniency while claiming to be unemployed and to be caring for three children.
Mwanzia began serving his jail sentence right away since he was not given the option of paying a fee, although he has 14 days to appeal the decision if he so chooses.
Maroro commanded that Ms. Boit receive the goods that were retrieved from Mwanzia.
